| This midi controller is perfect for producing on a budget. It pays for itself within a few projects. The pad triggers are perfect for drums and measure the velocity MUCH better than my old mpd 16 ever did. Has plenty of faders and endless knobs(perfect for vst's). It's easy to map the keys if your NOT running on vista (possible, but not as easy). I'm still waiting on drivers from m-audio, but besides that...it's a damn good controller... |
Does the job...well

I purchased the Axiom 49 as a controller for Ableton Live and some outboard midi gear. Though I have yet to dive into programming the thing, I found it immediately useful (thanks to the learn functions in Ableton.) Since the unit works with Enigma, M-Audio's editor, programming the unit will be a snap. I own M-Audio's "Trigger Finger" and found programming that with Enigma to be a breeze (providing you have an understanding of the MIDI protocol, which is pretty simple.)
The sliders feel nice, though My only real critisim is that I am not so fond of the rotary encoders...they click as you turn rather than turning smoothly. To sweep through from 1 - 127 takes many turns (though for many this is a good thing)
The unit seems very sturdy and I find the keyboard to be very playable.
Getting the driver installed was a little glitchy (I use Windows XP...so I don't blame M-Audio.) The issue was resolved quickly via a help article on the M-Audio site.
Overall, the Axiom 49 is a winner in my book. At this price point, the unit was very compelling. Other manufacturers make similar controllers, but are more expensive. I recommend this product!!! |
Axiom 49 is the BUSINESS!!! Well Worth the $$$

| I love this keyboard!!! I am a singer who tries to make her own music :-P I get a little cross-eyed when it comes to complicated equipment, but all I had to do was plug and play. I am upgrading from the M-Audio Keystudio, and there is absolutely no comparison. Well worth the money. It's like buying a drum machine and a drumpad all in one. I just opened the box and tested it out 5mins ago so I haven't even explored the full potential of it. BTW I am using Garage band on a MacBook Aluminum 13" and the Macbook Pro......thenewer version of garageband stopped reading the Keystudio keyboard so I had to get a new one, and it worked automatically!!! |
pretty good

| i am an equipment junkie and i end up owning a lot of keyboards. i have a fatar weighted controller. roland d-50, a roland a-20 that i bought on e-bay. this keyboard is nice to play. i use it for recording on sonar with reason as a soft synth. i am not very skilled using all the controls but it just plays well. i tried a smaller keyboard who can play piano on just 24 keys? i can't. you need some room to move. this keyboard lets you play. |
Awesome Product

Out of the box, it was a bit of a challenge figuring out the ableton lite software. But after a few minutes of reading and learning how to use it, the results were amazing.
The keyboard looks and feels awesome and carries a good amount of weight. The sliders and knobs feel clean and are extremely easy to assign. The lcd is something i'm still working on understanding, and the beat pads respond nicely.
This product is awesome so far. I'll post another review if it breaks within a year of use. |
